Membership

AHRIK is a not-for-profit initiative and a grassroots movement for the people doing HR without a department behind them — in small businesses, non-profits and regional teams. Membership is our social enterprise model: it is how the mission-led programs stay funded, and how subsidised training reaches practitioners who could not otherwise afford it.

Join the Cause — Choose Your Pathway

Three ways in. The free tier is permanent, not a trial — it is funded by donor partners and paying members for the public benefit. If that is all you need, take it and nothing else.

Community Key

Free, always

For anyone who has picked up HR duties and needs somewhere to start.

Organisation Keyholder

$350/yr

For small business and non-profit teams, covering up to five people.

What Your Membership Funds

Templates you can use today

Contracts, policies, warning letters and checklists, written to be adapted rather than admired.

Someone to ask

The 24/7 helpline, for the moments when a decision cannot wait until you have found a consultant.

Credentials that travel

Micro-badges you can point to in an interview or a tender, earned in weeks rather than years.

Peers who get it

Matched with someone working at a similar scale, because advice built for a 500-person company rarely transfers.

Events and community

Online sprints and regional intensives, with member places released before general enrolment.

Briefings when the law moves

Plain-English summaries of what changed and what you have to do about it, written for people without a legal team.

Member Stories

We would rather show you nothing than show you something we made up. We are collecting these properly — with names, permission, and the actual situation people were in.

If membership has helped you handle something you were dreading, we would like to hear about it, and to ask before we publish a word of it.

Common Questions

No. This was built for people doing HR without formal accreditation — office managers, founders, volunteer coordinators, anyone who ended up holding the work. If you already hold a qualification you are welcome too, but it is not the entry ticket.

Professional membership fees paid in connection with your work are commonly claimable as a work-related expense, but whether that applies to you depends on your circumstances — please check with your accountant rather than taking this page as advice. Note that donations to us are a separate matter and are not tax-deductible.

Yes, in either direction, at any point in the year. Moving from Individual to Organisation is prorated. Moving down, or pausing during parental leave or between roles, is handled case by case — send a message and mark it Membership.

Individual membership can be paid annually or monthly. Organisation membership is annual. The Community tier costs nothing and always will.

Say so. Subsidised places exist specifically for regional teams and non-profits, funded by members who can pay full rate and by donations. Asking for one costs you nothing and does not affect how your enquiry is treated.

Still Weighing It Up?

Tell us what you are dealing with and we will tell you honestly whether the free tier covers it. As a purpose-driven community we would rather do that than take money for something you will not use. NFP and charity bursaries are available if cost is the barrier.
