Our Impact

We measure our social impact by a simple test: when someone faced a workplace problem alone, did they have somewhere to turn? This page sets out the need our not-for-profit initiative exists to meet, the mission-led programs we run, who benefits, and how donor partner contributions are used for public benefit.

The Need We Exist to Meet

Most Australian workplaces are too small to employ anyone whose actual job is human resources. The work still has to happen. A grievance is raised, a dismissal has to be handled, a payroll error affects someone’s rent, a bullying complaint needs investigating — and it lands on whoever happens to be closest to it. An office manager. A founder. A volunteer coordinator who took it on because nobody else would.

These people are usually untrained, usually working alone, and the consequences of getting it wrong fall hardest on employees who already have the least protection. Formal accreditation pathways take years and cost more than a small organisation can justify, so the people who most need the knowledge are the least able to reach it.

That gap is what we exist to close.

Our Mission-Led Programs

Three purpose-driven programs, each built around a barrier that keeps expertise out of reach. Community bursaries available on all three.

Peer Support for Solo Practitioners

Support circles and a helpline for people carrying the HR function alone inside a small business or non-profit. Isolation is the problem this addresses: there is no colleague down the hall to ask whether you are about to do something unlawful.

Short-Form Practical Training

Tactical courses covering what actually lands on the desk — investigations, terminations, payroll obligations, difficult conversations. Delivered in short sprints and regional intensives so people do not have to leave work for months to learn.

Free and Subsidised Access

A permanently free membership tier, subsidised places for regional and non-profit practitioners, and an open template library. Cost is the most common reason people go without HR knowledge, so we remove it wherever contributions allow.

Who Benefits — Our Beneficiaries

Solo HR practitioners

People who are the entire HR function for their organisation, often without the title, the training, or anyone to check their work.

Small businesses and non-profits

Organisations without the budget for in-house expertise or external advice, where a single mishandled matter can be financially serious.

Regional and rural teams

Workplaces outside capital cities, where professional development usually means travel costs that rule it out entirely.

How Donor Contributions Create Social Impact

As a community-supported not-for-profit we are funded by donations, member contributions, grants & sponsorships and donor partners. We receive no government funding. Contributions are directed to three areas: keeping the free tier and template library open to everyone, funding community bursaries and subsidised places for regional and non-profit practitioners, and running the peer support and helpline services — capability building for NFPs, delivered at the grassroots.

Support Our Mission — Put Expertise Within Reach

Every contribution funds subsidised training, community bursaries and free resources for the workplaces least able to pay — measurable social impact for regional equity and workforce equity.
